Great Places to Live in Brooklyn:

Diversity is the beauty of Brooklyn.  There is a little bit of everything and everyone in this close-knit community.  Immigrants, transplants, and “born-and-raised” work together to “Spread love the Brooklyn way.”  In this borough you will find culture, hip-hop, professional sports, pop culture, Coney Island, and an oasis! You will also find grit.  Brooklyn used to be a blue collar, working class neighborhood, but gentrification and rising house costs have since caused it to push out some of the artists and working class residents.  Many people who live here, cannot afford to live here.  The median household income and the median household costs differ significantly.  However, Brooklyn’s grit and determination are seen in these residents as they do what they can to provide for living in the community that they love.  To them, their neighborhood defines them, and they want to be defined well.

Dumbo

Popular neighborhoods include Dumbo, which has Brooklyn’s premier arts district, galleries, and some very interesting residents.  DUMBO stands for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass” and has some spectacular views.  In recent years, Dumbo has been highlighted for the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, the Jacques Torres Chocolate factory,Grimaldi’s pizza, and The River Cafe.  Its population is just under 3,000 residents with the median household income being $207,079.  Fifty-eight percent of these folks choose to rent their home, paying an average monthly rent of $3,367.  The median home value soars at $1,614,760.

Williamsburg

Williamsburg provides some of the best local music.  Quaint music venues are scattered throughout the borough, but the Brooklyn Bowl is atop the list of unique halls.  This little community has 137,267 people that rent for a monthly fee of $1,689.  Median home values are lower here…$938,809…so is the median household income…$67,302.

Prospect Heights

Prospect Heights scores the fourth place, according to niche.com, for best places to raise a family in the Brooklyn area.  There is a population of 16,988, median home value of $1.09 million, median rent of $1,999, and median household income of $112,616.  Most people living here have a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Brooklyn Heights

Brooklyn Heights, population 20,480, is a scenic place to live as many of the living options have a waterfront view.  The median home value soars at $1.07 million, with a median rent of $2,319 a month.  The median household income is $143,408 and forty-six percent of these residents have a Master’s degree or higher.  The brownstone row houses, low-rise architecture, and gorgeous piers make this a beautiful place to live.

Greenpoint Historic District

Greenpoint Historic District is what most people think of when they consider Brooklyn housing.  This district includes neighborhoods like Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, and Park Slope.  All of these locations have easy access to transportation and trendy restaurants, shops, and venues.
