Philadelphia Moving & Storage Resources
Whether you’re moving to Philadelphia from a different city or just changing neighborhoods, relocating is a major life event. It’s an emotional mix of cherishing old memories and looking forward to creating new ones. The purpose of this guide is to provide you with valuable resources and to help you make the move as seamless as possible.
Moving is a time-consuming “adventure” and organization is key to a smooth transition. To help you save time and stay focused we’ve done the research for you and assembled a list of valuable resources. Our SSA recommended businesses can help with everything from finding the perfect home to maintenance, curb appeal, and city services. We’ve even put together a short primer to help you acclimate to your new neighborhood.
Philadelphia, or Philly in the local vernacular, is a city of eclectic neighborhoods, each with its own architecture, culture, and sometimes its own language. Philly is organized around the Center City neighborhood, home to Philadelphia City Hall. Directly to its west is a clear view down The Parkway to the Philadelphia Art Museum (both a building and a neighborhood). The Art Museum is home to The Rocky Statue, among other less infamous works of art by Renoir, Monet, Manet, Degas, and Cézanne.
From city hall, you can also grab your compass and head south down Broad Street. There you’ll find one of the cultural jewels of Philadelphia, The Kimmel Center, home to the world-famous Philadelphia Orchestra. Continue your journey to “South Philly” where you’ll find the Italian Market. Then head over to Pat’s and Genos to grab a cheesesteak (or two) on your way to “The Stadiums”. When it comes to the best cheesesteaks, everyone in Philly has an opinion. However, these catercorner shops are classics, so it’s worth checking them out.
For a completely different experience head north from City Hall to “China Town” home to some of the best food in town. It’s not just Chinese! You’ll also find great Japanese, Vietnamese, Cambodian and Korean cuisine. Once your belly is full, head east and you’ll run into Philadelphia’s “Old City”. The Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin, Independence Hall, and the Constitution Center are all must-see sites.
Higher education plays a huge role in Philadelphia. “West Philly” is home to The University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and The Fresh Prince. In addition to these storied West Philly universities, Philly also plays host to Temple and Villanova Universities to the north.
Philadelphia has a ton to offer its residents including world-class restaurants, cultural sites, and the Eagles (pronounced Eggles). Dubbed the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia is a welcoming city (as long as you’re not a Cowboys fan), and it’s full of rich history. Its grid layout makes it easy to navigate, so get settled in, and start exploring!

Philadelphia Real Estate Agents
Learning your way around a new city takes time. A few days might be enough to learn the names of the streets and a few attractions, but figuring out the nuances takes a lot of time and investigating. A real estate agent can help you find the neighborhood that best fits your personality and needs.
As we mentioned earlier, Philadelphia is a city of distinct neighborhoods. If you’re a young professional looking for hip new restaurants and a robust dating scene, your real estate agent might recommend Northern Liberties or West Philly, but if you have a family you might prioritize good schools and abundant youth activities. In that case, neighborhoods like Queen Village or Bella Vista might be the best fit. No matter what your priorities are, a Philadelphia real estate agent can help you find the home that best fits your needs.
